Orange- Nutmeg Crescents


115g Butter soft
Pinch of ground nutmeg
2 Tsp. orange flower water
50g icing sugar + extra for dusting
90g Fine wheat or spelt flour
115g ground Almonds
25g whole almonds toasted and chopped


  1. Preheat the oven to 160° C and line 2 baking sheets with baking parchment.
  2. Beat butter in a bowl until soft and creamy.
  3. Beat in nutmeg and orange flower water.
  4. Add icing sugar and beat until fluffy.
  5. Add flour, ground and chopped almonds & mix well.
  6. Bring the dough together with your hands to form a dough but don’t overwork it.
  7. Shape pieces of the dough into long sausages and cut it into 3 inch lengths, curving each one into a crescent and placing then well apart from eachother on the baking parchment.
  8. Bake for about 15 minutes or until firm but still pale. Leave to cool on wire rack and when cold dust with icing sugar.
