Five-Spice Fingers


115g Butter or margarine (at room temperature & Diced)
50g icing sugar
115g Fine wheat flour or spelt
2 tsp. Chinese five-spice powder
Grated rind and juice of 1 organic orange


  1. Preheat oven to 180° C & lightly grease 2 baking sheets.
  2. Put butter or margarine and half the icing sugar in a bowl and beat well till mixture is smooth and creamy.
  3. Add flour and 5-spice and beat until mixed thoroughly.
  4. Fill mixture into a piping bag with a large star nozzle.
  5. Pipe 3 inch long lines onto prepared baking sheets, leaving enough room for them to spread.
  6. Bake for 15 minutes until lightly browned. Leave to cool slightly and then transfer onto a wire rack.
