Basic Sponge Recipe


110g Flour
110g sugar
110g butter
2 eggs
1 tsp baking powder


  1. Set the oven to 200°C.
  2. Grease & bottom line 2 sandwich tins.
  3. Put all the ingredients in a bowl and whizz for one minute with an electric hand beater.
  4. Divide batter and bake for 12 - 15 minutes or when you put a skewer in the centre of the sponge it should come out clean.
  5. Cool on a wire rack.
  6. Decorate as you wish.
